Birthed from a telluric reaction at the perihelion of Jupiter and Saturn, Rolland Merguez was founded by 13 forerunners whose sole purpose was to conjugate perfect harmony and space-time warping groove to create the mystic funk pulsar.
Rolland Merguez’s technophile pioneers are based in Paris. To succeed in their mission, their brass band is guided by their muse, the Interstellar Diva on the mic. They play an energetic mix of funk, soul, hip-hop and electronic music with a brassy influence. Their four trumpet players are the quaternions that spins the audience into the 4th dimension. Their saxophones are the tree-body system that anchors the melodic foundation. A pair of intricate trombonists amplifies the cosmos’ vibrations. All of this while the crew is orbiting around the rhythmic nucleus. When the sousaphonist turns on his hypersonic subwoofer, the party is ready for take-off.

After meeting at university between quantum physics lectures and parties, twelve music lovers went on to travel the world, sharing their passion along the way and playing concerts across continents. A couple years after these initiatory journeys, they yearned for something higher, and decided to join forces to form a new cosmic super-structure. This atom aggregate was waiting for a Thom, a 13th nucleon, a catalyst coming back from far away regions of the ether. He would disrupt the equilibrium of the founding twelve and set the band in movement: Rolland Merguez was born.
Rolland Merguez plays a variety of genres that will satisfy the avid party animal eager to dance all night long, as well as the smug listener who will pick up on that hyper niche 80’s song known by 37 people in the world that cleverly made its way into the arrangement.
